“‘With my mouth,’ God says, ‘I kiss my own chosen creation. I uniquely, lovingly, embrace every image I have made out of the earth’s clay. With a fiery spirit, I transform it into a body to serve all the world.’”
- Hildegard of Bingen
With these words, Saint Hildgard captured the awe and mystery we know as life. Too often, we feel a bit overwhelmed by the day to day drudge of existence, especially in this odd time we live in.
I invite you to turn down the sound of the TV for a few seconds, look out the window and gaze at the stars, or at the clouds in the sky, whatever the time of day it may be for you on your section of this spinning ball of water, stone, earth, and fire. Breath in the silence, let it permeate your being, let it fill you with a sense of wonder. Let God kiss you along with all of beloved creation… the mystery of life is there at any moment to open like a silent flower and fill your heart with wonder if you invite it in.
Yours in service,
Chaplain Idoru Kiyori
