This event was a major part of our events for Relay For Life. It was amazing and the team that put it together gets big kudo’s for their work ethic throughout the months of planning it.
We got together with MBSL and CBBM members and there were two days of activities. The first night LTJG Teobold Rott brought on a wonderful opening speech led by MBSL’s Commander Gisele Osol and a speech by our very own SLCG’s LT Yalene Hansen. Then we has people talking about different types of cancer. Included in the first evening was MBSL soldier Ellen Yuhara Arado who spoke on prostate cancer. I then spoke of my personal battle with kidney cancer and discussed the precautions and treatments. We then had stories from other survivors, cancer patients and their families. There was MBSL’s Commander Lendario Montecchio, SLCG’s LTJG Pilar Nirvana and CBBM’s personnel.
There were booths from each of the groups decorating our graduation area with boats and information on all the services the groups had to offer.
The next night We had a presentation by SLCG’s LTJG Teobold Rott. MBSL’s Commander Lendario Montecchio spoke on cancer in general and the treatment of different types of cancer. I spoke on this evening on Colon Cancer which our very own LCDR Mike Chase put together for us. Then closing speeches were given by MBSL Commander Torres and our very own Admiral Allian Blackwell.
This was an event with a lot of heart. I want to say a special thank you to LTJG Teobold Rott who spent many hours of his time to put all of this together. I want to thank SR Marian Abigor who also stepped in and helped with many things having to do with the symposium itself. We want to thank all of LTJG Rott’s team as well. It will be a symposium that all of us will remember.
